Mafra and Nacional drew 1-1 today, in a game of the 20th round of the Portuguese II League with many opportunities and two teams betting on playing attack football.
Mafra took the lead in the 10th minute, with a goal by Zé Tiago, but Nacional drew in the second half, at 74, in an exemplary free kick by Camacho.
With both teams looking at the opposing goal, the game started at a high pace and Nacional was the first formation to create danger. At eight minutes, the Madeirans tested Godinho’s reflexes for the first time, with Gorré assisting Witi on the left and the full-back to the side.
In the next minute, Nacional was close to the goal again, after Juary rushed out on the attack. The Mafra central delivered the ball badly, Nuno Borges climbed a few meters and fired hard, with the ball scoring Mafra’s post.
More of the Nacional sign, but Mafra’s response was lethal: at 10, Zé Tiago found space to leave for the attack, assisted Joel on the left, the midfielder entered the Madeiran area, returned Zé Tiago and the striker did the rest. First he shot at the post, but he was happy and the ball returned to his feet and he only had to touch it 1-0, with Daniel already lying on the grass.
Nacional felt the goal conceded, but quickly returned to the charge. Camacho and Riascos were the most dangerous during the first half and it was precisely the two forwards who had the islanders’ best chance to draw, in the 20th minute. Godinho badly put the ball back in play, Camacho collected it and shot for the defender’s good defense, with Riascos, on the rebound, shooting to the side, already pressed by Mafra’s defense.
Even in advantage, Mafra never rested on 1-0 and, at the beginning of the second half, was close to increasing to 2-0, again with Zé Tiago, the best of Vasco Seabra’s team, in the spotlight.
The striker received on the left foot, dragged the Nacional’s defense in search of a ‘hole’ to shoot and, at the last moment, watched from the heels of Lucas Silva, with the Brazilian shooting for a great defense by Daniel Guimarães.
A few minutes later and Riascos came close to making a draw for Nacional. In an impressive run, the Colombian passed through all the opponents he encountered along the way, except for João Godinho, who, with a perfect ‘spot’, prevented the island celebration.
The game continued electric. Gorré, for Nacional, and Tavares, for Mafra, shot the ‘irons’, and, in the 74th minute, Nacional even managed the tie, with a direct free kick perfectly charged by Camacho. The winger hit the left side and, with a perfect arc, placed the ball at an angle, leaving Godinho nailed to the pitch and closing the final result.
