On Thursday (13), the Rio de Janeiro Department of Health confirmed the first measles death in the state. The victim’s identity has not been revealed.
The disease had already been eradicated in Brazil. For more than a decade, Rio de Janeiro has not registered measles cases. However, Brazil already counts 73 infected in 2020.
As a result, a campaign to combat the disease is being carried out in the country and, this Saturday (15), more than 350 posts of the municipal health department will be open in Rio for the National D day to fight measles.
