Sport: Union of Vitria and Matinhos will have sports and recreation activities


The actions of the State Superintendence of Sport in Summer Major continue for this weekend, with many sports, recreational and entertainment activities. This time the actions take place in União da Vitória, in the south of Paraná, and in Caiobá, in Matinhos, on the coast.

In União da Vitória the event will be held in support of the 4th edition of the Summer Festival, held by the municipality, this Saturday and Sunday (15 and 16), starting at 9 am, at Parque Linear. There will be several competitive sports, in addition to activities open to the public, recreation, demonstrations and workshops.

“The State Government is committed to taking projects such as Summer Major to other regions, focusing on the vocations of each locality and extolling its attractions and natural beauty,” said Sport superintendent Helio Wirbiski. “And for this to be possible, partnership with the municipality is essential”, he added.

“The novelty this year, thanks to this partnership with the Government, will be a climbing wall 10 meters high with a zip line that will cover approximately 70 meters. A balloon will also make anchored flights about 50 meters high. Everything is free for our population ”, commented the Municipal Secretary of Sports, Cordovan de Melo Neto.

Among the modalities of competition, there will be beach soccer tournaments, adult male and female, and male under 14; male and female adult beach volleyball, and male and female sub 14; adult male and female basketball, and male and female sub 15; adult footvolley and street racing.

In addition, several other activities are planned, such as zumba classes, kangoo jump, karate, taekowondo, capoeira, kids space, inflatable toys, mate’s wheel, animal donation and shows with local bands.

SURF IN MATINHOS – The 1st stage of the Paranaense Amateur Surf Championship is another action of the Summer Major 2020. On the 15th and 16th of February, ten categories will be up for grabs at Praia Brava de Matinhos. The competition is organized by the Paranaense Surfing Federation and according to the organizers it has a forecast of 100 registered athletes. The site will also feature a captive balloon flight for vacationers and local residents.

The activities of the Superintendence of Sport in the project Maior Maior started on January 6th in the Coast (Guaratuba, Caiobá, Matinhos, Praia de Leste, Ipanema and Shangrilá – and itinerant teams in other resorts) and in Puerto Rico, in the Northwest region.
