THE Volvo announced that it is already accepting orders in Brazil for the XC40 T5 R-Design PHEV. As the name says, this is the pluggable hybrid configuration of the entry-level SUV in our market. At the moment, R $ 229,950 is being charged to interested parties for each unit purchased in pre-sales, making the novelty the new top-of-the-line option for the model.
In the PHEV configurations, the Volvo XC40 uses a 1.5-cylinder three-cylinder turbocharged engine capable of delivering 180 horsepower and 27 kgfm of torque. The propeller works in conjunction with an electric motor of 82 hp and 16.3 kgfm. Volvo declares 262 hp of combined power for the set and 43.3 kgfm of torque.
The only transmission option is automated dual-clutch with seven gears, while traction is only front. According to Volvo, the car reaches 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds starting from immobility, while the maximum speed is limited to 205 km / h.
With the hybrid set, the XC40 R-Design PHEV has a combined consumption between road and urban use of up to 50 km / l. In addition, it is still possible to travel about 47 km using only battery power to exclusively power the electric motor.
Based on the conventional R-Design version of the XC40, the PHEV model has among the main standard items equipment such as two-zone digital air conditioning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitor, Harman Kardon sound system with 13 speakers, headlights with LED lamps, multimedia center with 12.3-inch screen and panoramic sunroof.
