According to the survey, which takes into account the bulletins of the state health secretariats, 59,656 deaths due to the covid-19 have been recorded to date across the country. Of the total, 1,271 were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The number is slightly higher than that reported in the late afternoon by the Ministry of Health, which accounts for 59,594 deaths in total, 1,280 of which were confirmed between yesterday and today.
According to data from the folder, more than half of the deaths from coronavirus recorded in the country occurred in June. Of the 59,594 victims of covid-19 to date, 30,280 had confirmed death this month.
The consortium also pointed out that 1,408,485 people have already been infected with the new coronavirus, with 37,997 cases included in the survey today. On the other hand, the federal government added 33,846 new and added 1,402,041 already infected. Of this total, 552,407 are still being monitored and 790,040 have recovered.
The pandemic in the states
Growth in the Midwest is driven largely by the curves observed in Mato Grosso. With a total of 629 victims, the state increased the number of deaths in that period by almost 400%. Deaths in Mato Grosso do Sul, which today totaled 76, grew 245.45% and in Goiás, which reached this Tuesday at 491 fatal cases, 183.82%.
The numbers confirm the trend towards the interiorization of the epidemic in Brazil. Across the country, the total number of deaths has grown 59.88% since 8 June. The increase in the Northeast was 64.05%; in the North 34.87%; and in the Southeast, 59.44%.
In the South, which after the Midwest is where the covid-19 numbers advance most, victims increased by 123.77% in that period.
In the Southeast, a region that has registered the highest number of deaths, the death curve shows signs of deceleration in São Paulo. According to the executive secretary of the Contingency Center at Coronavirus, João Gabbardo, the data for June should be below the forecast made for the end of the month.
The State Secretary for Economic Development, Patrícia Ellen, pointed out that São Paulo presented a 5% drop in the number of deaths in the comparison of the last seven days with the previous seven days. The drop was also seen in hospitalizations, which decreased by 2%.
Today, Paraná and Santa Catarina have broken a record number of new deaths – there were, respectively, 36 and 17 victims counted in the last 24 hours.
With the results of exams held back over the weekend on Tuesdays, the numbers are usually higher today than the average for other days. Paraíba, with 46 deaths since yesterday, also registered its highest number of new deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Vehicles unite for information
In response to the government’s decision Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) to restrict access to data on the covid-19 pandemic, the media Twitter, The State of S. Paulo, Folha de S. Paulo, O Globo, G1 and Extra formed a consortium to work collaboratively and thus seek the necessary information directly from the state health departments of the 27 units of the Federation.
The federal government, through the Ministry of Health, should be the natural source of these figures, but recent attitudes by authorities and the president himself question the availability of the data and its accuracy.
