In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, large banks (Caixa, Itaú, Bradesco and Santander) are allowing their customers to suspend the payment of two installments of home and car debt.
The measure allows these installments to be paid later, in this case, at the end of the financing of the house or car, and is intended to give financial breath to workers.
There is a need for the installments to be in days. In the case of Caixa, the pause can be made even for those with two installments in arrears.
Find out how it works:
The break applies to housing contracts for individuals or legal entities. In cases where the client is using FGTS to pay monthly installments, it will not be possible to request a break.
It is worth remembering that installments that expire this week cannot be paused. The service can be accessed in the Housing Cashier app or through WhatsApp (phone 0800-726 8068).
Here’s how it works in the app:
• Access the Caixa Housing application;
• Log in;
• Access the Services tab;
• Click on the Request Emergency Pause option;
• Read the guidelines and click Next;
• Inform the cell phone number and authorize the bank to send SMS about the request;
• Click on Request Pause.
At Itaú, orders can be placed through call centers. For vehicles, in capitals and metropolitan regions the number is 4002-0234, while in other locations just call 0800-729-0234.
In the case of real estate financing, service is from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 9 pm through 4004-7051, for capitals and metropolitan regions, and 0300-789-7051 for other locations.
Santander launched a hotsite to guide customers interested in requesting an extension of debt maturity, in line with the determination of the National Monetary Council (CMN).
The bank also automatically increased the credit card limit of all defaulting customers by 10%.
Bradesco says, in a note, that it is available to extend the debts of current operations for 60 days.
In real estate financing, the bank asks the customer to fill out a form available through internet banking, sign and send it by e-mail to the branch where they have an account. It is not necessary to go to the agency. The postponed amount will be diluted in the remaining installments.
