After the official pronouncement made on Tuesday night (24) in which he contradicted all the recommendations of the health authorities for this quarantine period due to the advancement of the coronavirus pandemic, President Jair Bolsonaro defended again, this Wednesday morning fair, on its social networks, that Brazil cannot stop.
In a post posted on his personal Twitter account, the agent said that “38 million freelancers have already been reached and if companies do not produce they will not pay wages”. And he continued: “If the economy collapses, the servers will not receive it either. We must open the trade and do everything to preserve the health of the elderly and those with comorbidities.”
In the post, the president released a video with a photo in which he appears next to the US president, Donald Trump, with the following phrase: “Brazil cannot end” to reiterate that the American counterpart is on the same line as him, arguing that the losses of the paralyzed economy, with quarantine, could be more damaging than the virus itself.
Bolsonaro’s position, in contradicting the determinations of the health authorities for quarantine, received much criticism, including from the mayors of the Chamber, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ) and the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (DEM-AP) who considered the statement of the president of mistaken. “The country needs a serious, responsible and committed leadership with the life and health of its population. We consider the position expressed by the President of the Republic to be serious, said Alcolumbre.
