Chamber approves dispensation of medical certificate for absences due to coronavirus – 03/26/2020

The Chamber approved on Thursday, 26, in its second virtual session of history, a project that exempts the worker infected with coronavirus from presenting a medical certificate to justify the absence and guarantee the receipt of salary.

The goal is to avoid a rush to hospitals for those who have mild symptoms just in search of the certificate and contain the spread of the virus. The matter needs to be approved by the Senate to become law.

The proposal, authored by deputy Alexandre Padilha (PT-SP), guarantees removal for seven days, dispensing with the medical certificate. In case of imposed quarantine, the worker may present, as of the eighth day, an electronic document regulated by the Ministry of Health or SUS health unit document.
