The Municipality of Rio Verde, in the southwest of Goiás, informed, this Thursday (26), that community transmission of the coronavirus in the city has been verified. According to the superintendent of Health Surveillance in the state, Flúvia Amorim, this means that the virus is circulating in the city and it is not possible to know who transmitted it to whom.
“It means that the virus is circulating more intensely and that these control measures – the recommendations and the decrees – more than ever need to be followed. […] This may be happening in other places and we are working to identify where else there is this community transmission ”, he explained.
The most recent confirmed case of Covid-19 in the city is that of a 33-year-old banker. According to the city hall, he is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Rio Verde in a stable state.
The patient was admitted on March 22 with suspicion of pneumonia and is being monitored, as informed by the municipal administration.

Mayor of the city, Paulo do Vale asked for the collaboration of residents to reinforce preventive measures. In addition, he explained that only hospitalized patients will be tested for the disease.
“It means that we have to redouble and comply with quarantine, social isolation. Now we are only going to do tests on those patients who will be hospitalized. We are going to the second stage of the confrontation ”, he said.
Infectologist Plínio Torres also stressed the importance of people keeping their distance from each other and isolating themselves, especially if they have symptoms.
“People at home, with mild symptoms, should remain at home. Only patients with moderate or severe respiratory symptoms, with an indication for hospitalization, will be evaluated in our emergency care unit ”, he explained.
