Coffee consumption in the world will demand more beans than producers will be able to offer to the market. To be aware, demand in coffee year 2019-2020 will exceed supply by 480 thousand bags.

The world coffee production forecast for the period is estimated at 168.86 million 60 kg bags, points Embrapa, based on the Coffee Market Report – February 2020, of the International Coffee Organization (ICO).

At the same time, global coffee consumption is expected to be 169.34 million bags. This means an increase of 0.7% over 2018-2019, when the demand was 168.10 million bags.

At the same time, the coffee year 2019-2020 is projected to have a 0.8% lower physical production compared to 2018-2019.

These estimates point to a 3.9% decrease in the Arabica coffee crop, to 96.37 million bags. On the other hand, the production of the robusta species grain will expand 3.7%, to 72.5 million bags.
