The son of a general, an IMF financial expert who was against quarantine, dies of coronavirus in the USA. “Is our fight against the coronavirus worse than the disease itself? It is difficult to decide whether the human aspect is more important than the implications for the economy ”, he said, days before being diagnosed and killed
The entire Pakistani press and part of the American press reported the death of Rehman Shukr, 26. The young man was the son of Abeera Choudhry, a high-ranking military officer from Pakistan, and died in Washington DC (USA) last Tuesday (24) of a coronavirus.
Rehman Shukr was an economist and financial expert at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Last Saturday, March 21, he made his last post on Facebook.
The young man shared a text from ‘The New York Times’ and questioned the effects of forced isolation as an effective measure to fight the coronavirus.
“Is our fight against the coronavirus worse than the disease itself? It is difficult to decide whether the human aspect of the disease is more important than the implications for the economy and other important areas. It is very easy to let emotion guide politics, and we have already seen why it is a bad idea ”, he wrote.
Rehman pointed out that the article was “very important”, as many stores, bars and restaurants closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Some friends mourned Rehman’s death. “What sad news, I am heartbroken”, wrote an internet user. “Rest in peace, my friend,” published another.
