Confessed supporter of Flamengo, Pedro joined the Brazilian champion and Copa Libertadores squad in early 2020. With a devastating start to the season, Rubro-Negro has already won three titles: the Super Cup of Brazil, in a single final against Athletico-PR , the Recopa Sul-Americana, against Independiente Del Valle, and the Guanabara Cup. For the striker, the results were not a surprise.
“I expected (the results) for the quality of the cast. I knew I was coming to a great team, a winning team. Very happy to be part of this team ”, said Pedro in an interview with FlaTv.
“Thank God we were able to celebrate three titles at the beginning. It’s just beginning the year, we have many competitions ahead. And always thinking about improving and evolving to win even more titles ”, he added.
The period of paralysis of soccer activities due to the coronavirus pandemic is affecting athletes. In isolation at home, Pedro admits to missing the routine.
“Everyone is longing to return to normal life. And it is no different for me. I miss training, working, seeing the Maracanã crowded ”, he said.
Club structure impressed upon arrival
When answering about what surprised him the most when he arrived at Flamengo, Pedro talked about the structure of the CT.
“My biggest surprise was the training center. As soon as I arrived, I had already gone to Ninho do Urubu when I was a child, I was scared by the structure, with everything that Flamengo can give us. This facilitates our daily lives, our work. One of the things that makes Flamengo be at the high level today ”, highlighted Pedro.
Even though he is not the starter of the team, Pedro has been widely used by coach Jorge Jesus. He was on the pitch in nine of the 12 games played by the main squad and scored three goals.
