Known the technical characteristics of the new Huawei P40

We all know how this works. Whenever the launch of a new smartphone line is imminent, photos and technical features end up appearing on the Internet with some advance. And with the new Huawei P40 and P40 Pro it is no different, so we already know everything about these devices before their official revelation this Thursday, March 26, in an online event.

Let’s start with the most modest model, the P40. It has a 6.1 ″ OLED screen with a resolution of 2340 × 1080 and a refresh rate of 60Hz, HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal memory and 3800mAh battery with support for fast charging of 22.5W, just like last year’s P30 model. It doesn’t seem to be IP68 certified, which is boring.

P40 Pro

As for the cameras, one of Huawei’s focuses, you can see that, on the front, the annoying notch no longer exists. Instead, there is a small rectangle in the upper left corner of the screen, which includes a 32MP lens and a ToF sensor for depth effect.

At the rear are three cameras – 50MP UltraVision main sensor, 16MP wide-angle lens and 8MP telephoto sensor – so we can expect good results. The Huawei P40 will have a weight of 175 grams and, despite bringing Android 10, it will not have Google Mobile Services. It is estimated that it costs € 799 or € 849.

The P40 Pro promises to win a lot more attention. It is bigger, so it has a bigger screen, in this case an OLED panel with 2640x1080p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The processor is the same, the RAM too, but in this Pro model there is the option of having 256GB of internal storage. The battery is 4200mAh with 40W fast charging support. In addition, it is IP68 certified.

The front cameras are also the same, but the big difference to the normal model is in the rear lenses, which are four: 50MP UltraVision main sensor, 40MP wide-angle lens, 12MP periscopic lens and a dedicated depth sensor . Apparently, the P40 Pro will be capable of a SuperSensing hybrid zoom of up to 50x which, despite using the features of all lenses, will be based mainly on the 12MP lens.

Like the “base” model, it will have Android 10, but without Google services. As for prices, you should start at € 999.

So what about the Huawei P40 Pro Premium / Pro Plus?

There has been talk for some time about a true competitor of Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. If until now the Internet referred to this device as P40 Pro Premium, it seems that the real name is P40 Pro Plus.

It will be a special cell phone. According to the website Huawei Central, the P40 Pro Plus will have a 6.7 ″ OLED screen, 3160 × 1140 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of internal memory, Kirin 990 5G processor and a 5500mAh battery with fast charging support 55W.

The front cameras will be the same as in the previous version, but there are differences in the rear. The main sensor is 52MP, with digital optical stabilization, there are differences in the periscopic lens and, mainly, there is a fifth sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens. Yes, there are five cameras behind!

Of course, the price is also premium: something between 1300 and the € 1400.
