The list of requests for the Piauiense Championship not to be resumed after quarantine to contain the advancement of the coronavirus won the first name. Warton Lacerda, president of Altos, revealed that he did not believe in the continuity of the state after the stoppage announced by the Piauí Football Federation (FFP) and proposed closing the tournament. According to the top hat, Jacaré and Picos, currently in the 1st and 2nd positions of the table, respectively, should be announced as champion and vice of Piauiense. The FFP said it will wait for the end of the state of emergency to discuss the future of the competition with CBF.

– I do not believe that this championship will return in June, July. No chance of going back. I don’t see how Picos, Parnahyba, 4 de Julho, Timon-PI and Piauí will put together a team to play just four rounds. Not to mention pre-season. The suggestion is that the championship ends as it is with Altos champion and Picos vice. I think that the correct and fair would be that – explained the leader.

Due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus and the states of public calamity decreed by the Government of Piauí and the Municipality of Teresina, the FFP decided to suspend temporarily and indefinitely the dispute for the title of the Piauiense Football Championship.

Within hours of the entity’s announcement, clubs began releasing their players to quarantine in their home cities. Threatened by relegation, Timon-PI struggled to schedule his athletes’ trips.

Without returning home, players report abandonment: “We are played”

– With the exception of River-PI and Altos, the contracts of the other teams now expire on April 16 (the return leg of the final was scheduled for April 15). I think it is more sensible to declare Altos the winner and Picos vice. I see no other way – reinforced Lacerda.

There are still 20 games to be played in Piauiense, 18 of them in the final stretch of the classification phase and the two of the grand final in Teresina.

Sought by the report, Robert Brown, president of the FFP, informed that the entity will await the decision of the authorities regarding the end of the quarantine imposed on the population to discuss the direction of Piauiense. The major concern of the organizer of the state is, according to Brown, the definition of the state’s nominations for national competitions in 2021.
