PlayStation 5 arrived on November 19, but the stock quickly sold out in several stores around the world. Thus, consumers, especially gamers, eagerly expect this stock to be replenished.
However recently a store in Japan received more units of Sony’s new console. And the result was complete chaos installed by people who wanted to buy a copy. And the trim was so much that sales had to be closed.
As we are in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, this news even sounds strange, in the sense that events that gather crowds are already rare. But the truth is that a cartoon situation recently happened in Japan, but perhaps expected, due to Sony's new console.
New PlayStation 5 units cause chaos in a Japanese store
The arrival of a new order of PlayStation 5 units yesterday, the 30th, at a technology store in Japan, caused chaos in the establishment. The apparatus, recorded on video and released online, brought many people into the store and caused so much confusion that sales had to be closed.
The Yodobashi Camera store is located in Akihabara, Tokyo, and has seen the situation go completely out of control. And not even with the authorities did that real mutiny subside.

However, the store had already predicted that this could happen. And in this way, it even distributed 300 numbered tickets to customers so that they could be served in a certain order. But even this didn't work, as the excitement and eagerness to get a PS5 was such that chaos ensued.
This whole situation is due to the great demand for PlayStation 5. Sony launched the console in November 2020, but it has been difficult to buy a copy due to lack or limited stock in stores. And this problem is especially true in Japan.

Anyone could buy the PS5 in the store
However, this confusion was not only created by the demand of the game by regular customers. According to the Kotaku website, this is one of the few stores in Tokyo that does not require an exclusive store credit card to purchase hardware. This limitation imposed by several stores is not to the liking of consumers who run out of stock of products to later resell them in other stores at higher prices.
So, without this limitation, people went to the store en masse to have or resell copies of PlayStation 5. To combat the lack of stock, Sony has already closed most of the production of PlayStation 4 in Japan, in order to give all attention to the new generation of the console.
As a consequence, the authorities were then called to the site and, therefore, sales were canceled.
Not even the COVID-19 pandemic stopped the crowd
These images already seem strange to us, since this kind of clusters of people are not frequent. And not even the pandemic stopped the crowd that gathered at the store to purchase the PS5.
Through the videos we see that people have a mask, however in many cases it is misplaced.
On the other hand, the Japanese government declared a state of emergency due to the increase in cases of infection, with Tokyo being the city with the highest number of cases in the Asian country. Currently, Japan has 383,083 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 5,546 have resulted in unfortunate deaths.
