Thai company Asus launched the ROG Phone 3 for games in mid-July 2020. Despite being a little far from completing 1 year, it seems that the company is already very close to launching its successor. And as proof of an imminent launch, the ROG Phone 5 has now appeared at the Chinese agency TENAA with some specifications and images.
According to the TENAAA listing, the ROG Phone 5 will have a model number I005DA. It will be equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 888 chipset, recently launched by Qualcomm. For those who don’t know, this processor has an Adreno 660 GPU, 35% faster and a CPU based on the new ARM Cortex-X1.
Also according to the list, the smartphone will be equipped with a total of three cameras at the rear, including a 64MP main lens and two other auxiliary sensors not mentioned. In addition, it will have a secondary screen on the back to show important notifications to the user. On the other hand, the front will bring a 6.78 inch AMOLED display with a built-in fingerprint reader.
To keep it running longer, Asus will keep the same 6,000mAh battery from the previous generation. However, optimizations by the chipset and possibly by the company will guarantee even better energy efficiency.
To date, the release date of the new ROG Phone 5 is still unknown. However, a previous leak revealed that it could be launched between March and April.
