Barcelona reacted this morning to the publication of the Lionel Messi contract by the daily newspaper The world.
In a statement, the club regrets the “public exposure of a private document governed by a principle of confidentiality”, but at the same time denies responsibility for its publication, declaring “full support” to the player against an “attempt to damage his image”.
Barcelona also announces the taking of legal actions against the newspaper “for the losses that it will have generated”.
Radio RAC1 also said that Messi himself had already called his lawyers for actions against the newspaper and to investigate who had already been in contact with his contract.
In the renovation, in November 2017, Messi secured, as a prize, 115 million euros. As a loyalty prize to the club, the Argentine secured, in this period, another 77 million euros, adding 138 million for the salary. All in all, the renewal of the Argentine international with FC Barcelona in 2017 is worth more than 500 million euros, a value that was considered too heavy for the coffers of the club, which is going through a financial crisis.
