Rio – According to the coronavirus control panel this Sunday (31), the State Department of Health of Rio de Janeiro (SES) registered, 520,967 confirmed cases and 29,811 deaths by covid-19 in the state. In the last 24 hours, 22 deaths were registered, 90% less than the previous day. 237 new cases were confirmed. The number of patients recovering from the disease reached 486,179.

According to the folder, the occupancy rate of intensive care units (ICU) rose to 65%. The occupancy rate in the hospital beds fell to 48.6%.

Vaccination in the elderly

Mayor Eduardo Paes and the municipal secretary of Health, Daniel Soranz, participated, this Sunday morning (31), in the ceremony that marked the beginning of vaccination for elderly people over 80 in Rio de Janeiro against the covid-19.

Five elderly people were vaccinated at the Palácio da Cidade, in Botafogo, in the South Zone of the city to mark the new phase of the immunization campaign. Among them, the actor Orlando Drummond, famous for the character “Seu Peru”, of the School of Professor Raimundo, 101 years old, was the first to receive the dose of the vaccine. Mangueirense musician Nelson Sargento, 96, was also immunized.

From next Monday (1) and until the end of February, vaccination will be staggered. The campaign will mobilize 236 family clinics and municipal health centers, in addition to posts in the drive-thru system. In this first week, people over 95 will be vaccinated.
