The company’s first Intel DG1 SDV graphics card is disassembled and tested

The board does not seem to work with more relevant benchmark software

Igor’s Lab performed disassembly and tests on Intel’s DG1 SDV video card. Igor Wallossek, responsible for the portal, reported performance appraisal problems and uniquely demonstrated the interior da GPU.

It is important to mention that this video card is not the same announced for desktops by Intel recently.

Acronym SDV it means Software Development Vehicle (Software Development Vehicle), that is, it is a piece geared towards developers test software that will be available on the new Intel Xe graphics cards.

When DG1 SDV was launched in 2020, Intel did not yet have dedicated video cards, not even in the mobile version.

That said, one of the challenges when testing this card was bring together the compatible Intel platform with the GPU. That’s because Intel had no plans to make this product available to ordinary consumers, just to developers.

Igor did not say which platform was used in the test, but it was obviously a configuration prepared for a DG1 SDV.

As performance assessments were unsuccessful, as the GPU does not appear to work with any significant benchmark tool. Games then, no way. Based on other assessments, Igor estimates that the DG1 SDV performs similarly to the GeForce GT 1030.

Intel DG1 is based on Xe-LP, manufactured using the 10nm SuperFin of brand. The video card has 96 execution units connected to 8 GB LPDDR4 RAM with frequency of 2133 MHz.

As for energy consumption, the result obtained is relatively good in idle mode (4W) with a maximum power requirement of 30W during charging. The software reports that the GPU is consuming at least 20W alone, but the total 30W is shared among other components.

Regarding the clock speed, there is an average of 1550 MHz, or returning to DG1 SDV 100 MHz slower than the official boost clock for the mobile variant – Iris Xe Max.
