USA: Congressman diagnosed with covid after 2nd dose of Pfizer vaccine

US Congressman Stephen Lynch was diagnosed with coronavirus 9 days after taking the 2nd dose of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine against the disease. According to Pfizer told the local vehicle NBC 10 Boston, it takes 7 days after the 2nd application for the immunizer to take effect.

Clinical studies on the vaccine have shown that its effectiveness against the coronavirus is 95%. The announcement of Lynch’s disease was made on Friday (29. Jan. 2021) by his office.

The congressman is from the Democratic Party and represents the State of Massachusetts. He participated on January 20 in the inauguration of the President of the United States, Joe Biden, also a Democrat. Lynch’s office says the second dose was applied before the event, when the congressman had also taken a covid-19 test that was negative.

Lynch took the new test after a member of his cabinet was diagnosed with coronavirus earlier this week (January 25-29). He is the second Massachusetts congressman to have the disease in 2 days: Republican Lori Trahan announced the disease on Thursday (28. Jan).

Lynch’s team said the congressman was asymptomatic. He will be quarantined and will delegate his voting power to the US House of Representatives for the next week.
