The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed yesterday (30) at night a change in the dates of the finals of the Copa do Brasil between Grêmio and Palmeiras, previously scheduled for February 11 (Thursday) and February 17 (Wednesday) . The games will now be held on February 28 and March 7, two Sundays at 4pm. The first at Arena do Grêmio, the next at Allianz Parque.
The reason for the change is the participation of Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar. The competition starts on February 4th and the Libertadores champion will debut on the 7th, against Tigres, from Mexico, or Ulsan, from South Korea, straight in the semifinals. Both the dispute for third and fourth place and the final will be on the 11th, which makes the dates previously reserved for the Brazil Cup unfeasible.
The last round of the Brazilian Championship is scheduled for February 24, which means that the Copa do Brasil will be decided only after the end of the competition. Palmeiras faces Atlético-MG, while Grêmio visits Red Bull Bragantino on this occasion.
The change of the Copa do Brasil will also change the table of the State, which start exactly in the weekend of 27 and 28 of February.
