Emma Coronel, wife of Mexican drug dealer Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, was arrested in the United States on Monday (22) for her alleged involvement in international drug trafficking, the US Justice Department said. El Chapo came to be classified as the largest drug dealer in the world.
Emma, who is 31, was arrested at Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia and is due to appear in Washington’s federal court on Tuesday.
Colonel is accused of conspiracy to distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine for illegal import into the United States. In addition, this ex-miss reportedly collaborated on two plots to help Guzmán escape from Mexican prisons, including the escape from Altiplano prison, located in Almoloya de Juárez, in July 2015.
Emma Coronel’s defense has not yet manifested itself.
