For two seasons, actress Gina Carano (38) played the role of Cara Dune in the popular Star Wars series “The Mandalorian”. The actress, who was an MMA star before she entered the spotlight, has in fact set the minds of many people on fire throughout the autumn and winter.
Among other things, she has shared a number of controversial opinions about both face masks and election fraud. What became the icing on the cake, however, was a post in which she compared today’s political climate with the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany.
Then it said stop for her future in the Star Wars series, and she was fired. Now, however, she says she expected it.
– Be prepared
In an interview with “The Ben Shapiro Show”, reproduced by the New York Daily News, the actress admits that she decided to go down with the flag at the top.
– I was prepared to be fired at any time, because I have seen this happen to so many people. I’ve seen their facial expressions. I have seen the bullying that has happened, she says in Sunday’s episode.
Furthermore, the 38-year-old says that she was fully aware of what the consequences could be.
– They made it very clear through their employees that they were looking for me. So I just thought, well, I’m going to go down with the flag at the top. I will be true to myself, and I will let it speak for itself, she admits.
The Disney company Lucasfilm, which owns the Star Wars brand, announced earlier in February to Variety that Carano had been fired.
“Gina Carano is currently not employed by Lucasfilm, and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Her derogatory posts on social media about people’s cultural and religious identities are disgusting and unacceptable, “the statement said.
The former MMA star published several posts in which she apparently ridiculed the use of face masks, and compared today’s political climate with the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany. It made many people see red.
– Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their own neighbors. The authorities made their own neighbors hate them, simply because they were Jews. How is it any different than hating someone for their political views, Carano asked in an Instagram story – which has since been removed.
The comparison between being a Jew in the Nazi era and a conspiracy theorist in 2021 was not to your liking.
The hashtag #FireGinaCarano soon began to trend in several social media. The critics thus got what they wanted when it became known that Disney had fired the actor.
