Questioned by Lusa, DGS stated that on January 31, 269,563 first doses and 68,7747 second doses had been applied, totaling 338,310 doses, equivalent to about 3.3 percent of the population.
The information differs from that contained in the online vaccination monitor of the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC), in which only about 166 thousand first doses administered in Portugal are registered.
DGS states that this information “does not correspond to that submitted on ECDC’s TESSy platform” (European Surveillance System).
” The problem has already been identified and is being resolved by the DGS and ECDC teams”, adds the Portuguese health authority.
According to the ECDC monitor, some 8.2 million doses of vaccine for covid-19 have been administered in the 27 member countries of the European Union.
The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed at least 2,237,990 deaths resulting from more than 103.3 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report by the French agency AFP.
In Portugal, 13,017 people died from 731,861 confirmed cases of infection, according to the most recent DGS bulletin.
