The main private hospitals in Natal started this Monday (22) with more than 90% of critical beds for Covid-19 occupied. The increase in private units accompanies the capacity of public hospitals, which already reaches more than 90% in Grande Natal and more than 80% in Rio Grande do Norte.

Who also starts to suffer pressure in the beds for the disease are the Emergency Care Units (UPAs) of the capital. UPA Cidade Satellite dawned Monday with 105% stocking.
Among private hospitals, Hospital Rio Grande reported that all 17 ICU beds for Covid-19 and the 20 semi-intensive ones are completely occupied. The hospital board also said that the unit’s emergency room had an increase of 30% in the number of visits last week.
At Hospital São Lucas, occupancy is also at 100% in beds for Covid-19, depending on the direction of the unit. The hospital also reported that the demand for patients with respiratory syndrome grew and that, in the emergency room, the increase reached up to 90% in the last days.
Another unit in which emergency room care increased was Hospital do Coração. On Sunday (21), the hospital had to close the emergency room for 4 hours because it did not support the number of patients.
According to the hospital’s management, Monday (22) started with all Covid-19 beds occupied. In the afternoon, the ICU had 95% of the occupation.
I o Unimed Hospital suspended elective surgery for the next 14 days, with only obstetric and oncological ones being maintained. The unit did not inform the percentage of occupation of critical beds, but said it’s running at almost full capacity, and informed that it should increase the service capacity by 25% to support the demand, in addition to opening new beds.
At Hospital Antônio Prudente, from the Hapvida system, the occupancy in the ICU beds for Covid-19 is 76%.
UPAs have increased occupancy
The situation at the UPAs in Natal is also of concern. At UPA Cidade Satellite, this Monday (22), the occupancy of Covid-19 beds reached 105%, according to the Municipal Health Department of Natal. Those who sought the unit had difficulty even being served.

In the other UPAs in the capital, there was an increase in occupancy and attendance, despite not being overcrowded.
At Potengi UPA, in the North Zone of Natal, the occupation was of 75% this Monday morning. At UPA Pajuçara, it was 60%, the same occupation as UPA Cidade da Esperança.
Another unit that has high occupancy at the beginning of the week is the Hospital dos Pescadores, in the neighborhood of Rocas. This Monday, the occupation reached 90%.
