It won’t be this time that Rafael Alves will make his UFC debut.
The Brazilian was scheduled to face fellow rookie Pat Sabatini, in a duel valid for the featherweight division (66 kg), at UFC Las Vegas 19, this Saturday. Although, the athlete ended up exceeding the weight limit too much during the official weigh-in show and the confrontation was canceled.
During the weigh-in this Friday, Rafael Alves sank 71.4 kg, more than five kilos (5.2 kg) above the maximum limit allowed by the featherweight.
But it didn’t take long for the Paraense to reveal, through his social networks, what happened to commit this failure that will cost him his debut in the organization.
“Guys, I was sick in my weight loss and my fight was canceled. I’m sorry, but the best thing is my health,” said the Brazilian, without giving any details.
Former champion of Titan FC, Rafael Alves won a spot in the UFC by submitting the Mexican Alejandro Flores in the 4th episode of the fourth season of the program “Contender Series“.
The attraction is known for revealing fighters to the squad for the main MMA event in the world.
Altogether in his career, the Paraense has 19 wins and 9 losses.
